Our practice is locally-owned and not part of large corporation or mega-healthcare system. Everyone will know your name, and you will always have the same physical therapist. Our patient clientele range from Olympic and elite level athletes to those starting physical therapy completely immobile due to injury or illness.


Services and Treatments

The hallmark of SBB is our personalized service and customized treatment programs tailored to you and your goals. Some commonly utilized treatment interventions include conditioning and strength training, postural corrections, ergonomic evaluations, gait and balance training, joint and spine manipulation, massage, myofascial release, Graston technique, post-surgical rehab, traction, core stability training, neuromuscular re-education, various taping techniques such as kinesiotape, ultrasound, electric stimulation.

As one of few therapists certified in vestibular rehabilitation in NH’s Seacoast region, Melissa Hanson Gahr is trained in performing advanced methodologies in treating vestibular disorders. Vestibular rehabilitation programs typically include canalith repositioning or Epley Maneuver, gaze-stabilization training and adaptation, habituation, balance training, fall prevention strategies. Individual and group-based Tai Chi exercises are often integrated into our program.

Every patient gets a home assignment or exercise program to facilitate and increase the progress made in therapy sessions. We will cater instructions to your learning style via photo, written directions, and/or video.


Melissa Gahr

Melissa Hanson Gahr, MSPT

Melissa has over 25 years of experience treating patients with musculoskeletal and neurological deficits. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, she obtained an Advanced Master Degree Summa Cum Laude in Adult Neurological Rehabilitation from Long Island University. During her 6 years at the renowned Rusk Institute at New York University Hospital, she gained experience with a wide-range of patient populations including strokes, traumatic brain injury, cardiopulmonary disease, spinal cord injuries, vestibular disorders and orthopedic and sports injuries. At Rusk Institute, she was a clinical instructor for the NYU PT department and developed a community outreach program for osteoporosis prevention of fractures. Also at NYU, she worked in Manhattan’s first and largest vestibular rehabilitation center and was trained by top-researchers and pioneers in this field. Melissa earned a Certificate in Vestibular Rehabilitation in 2016 after attending an intensive course sponsored by Emory University and the American Physical Therapy Association in Atlanta.

Melissa is also certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Vestibular Disorders Association. She recently completed training to be an instructor in the CDC-endorsed program, “Tai Chi: Movement for Better Balance” by Dr. FuZhong Li of the Oregon Research Institute. Over the past decade, her work has become focused in private practice treating musculoskeletal, spine and sports injuries. With a special interest and training in vestibular disorders, Melissa has developed highly successful vestibular treatment programs for patients with dizziness, inner ear disorders, balance and gait abnormalities and provided consultations for many local practices.
